The Vashon Island Chorale begins its fall session on Tuesday, Sept. 6, culminating in concerts on Dec. 3 and 4. The major work to be presented is Dona Nobis Pacem by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Also featured will be works from Abraham Kaplan’s Eight Days of Chanukah, Franz Biebl’s Ave Maria, and traditional carols by Sir David Willcocks.

For those who recall those late 1950s and ‘60s instrumental megahits by The Ventures, The Surfaris and Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass, you’ll want to run, not walk, to Ober Park Thursday, August 25. vocals, Steve Banks on drums, and long-time guitarist, Van Manaka. Scott will play outside (or inside if inclement weather) from the pad in front of the winery. Come hear Scott with his infectious upbeat music.

Those who attend should prepare to play a percussion instrument Cutler will provide. Herky Cutler was born in Montreal and now makes his home in Alberta, Canada. He’s played guitar since he was 19, but more "in the closet" than out until 1992. That’s when Cutler made his performance debut. He’s since added the harmonica, bass and percussion to his repertoire and started writing songs in 1993.

Shark Biscuit plays surf and rock instrumentals from the golden age of the 1950's and 60's, plus a few surprises! This high-energy ensemble is six strong, and parlays reverb-soaked guitar stylings, tribal drumming and rumbling bass lines with a powerful horn section and a rockin' keyboard. Their music is highly danceable and brings smiles to all ages. The classic Shark Biscuit sound evokes tonal memories of Dick Dale, the Belairs, the Chantays, the Ventures and Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass.
