80-year-old Overton Berry is a Seattle music legend, dazzling pianist, bandleader, composer and baritone whose career spans well over 60 years. Island drummer Todd Zimberg will reunite with two of his closest musician friends once again, guitarist Michael Gotz and bass player Keith Lowe, for another epic performance at the Red Bicycle Bistro. Chautauqua Music Festival is an all-day music festival on Vashon Island that raises money for underprivileged kids in the elementary and middle school music programs. It combines Vashon youth and adult music acts with performers from Seattle, great outdoor food and camping at our local Eagles Aerie 3144

Jeff Kanzler is a Seattle born singer-songwriter. Initially working in Seattle before he moved to Los Angeles, then to a remote part of the Alaskan interior and ultimately to Vashon, his work to date is primarily Americana with traditional instrumentation.

Revolutionary music may seem hard to come by in these days and times. Long gone is the era of artists like Bob Marley, The Clash, Stevie Wonder and Patti Smith getting airplay and bringing their messages to the masses.

Together for years writing and playing original music on Vashon Island and in the Seattle area, The FieldHands are a rock band. Their music blends some of the best traits of rock, alternative country and the Americana vibe present in music from artists like Wilco, Son Volt, Lucinda Williams, Ryan Adams, Iris Dement and others.

Since the last Strawberry Festival in 2015, Bill Brown and the Kingbees have been performing all over Puget Sound. Folks love Bill’s crisp harmonica and no holds barred vocals. They are a favorite for private parties for their energy and dynamic tonal vocals.

Pianist, composer, and teacher Kate Moody will present a series of Connect & Glow Guided Meditations and Music on second Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. at Vashon Intuitive Arts. Each session focuses on a different topic. The topic on June 11th is “Spring Cleaning - I Forgive Me.” August 13th is “Vitality and Growth,” and September 10th is “Connecting With Inner Guidance.”

Vashon’s own, Cami Lundeen, returns to the island this June for a show with her band. Lundeen will rock the stage with your favorites from her debut album as well as new songs she’s written since leaving the island.

Wailing guitar, swirling organ, thunder Bass, throbbing drums and the urge to make you dance are what we bring to the party. The group has made appearances in the last three Strawberry Festival lineups, two years at the “Cat Butt” festival, several dates at the “Red Bike” and a truly unique mid-summer party for Tony’s Going Away (that never happened, he’s still here).

Comprised of about 20 Islanders ranging from professional musicians to amateurs, the community musical group is celebrating its 41st anniversary this year. Charter member Lou Engels still plays in the band.

The Vashon Beethoven Quartet Project continues on April 17th with the Quartet op.18 no.5 in A major. The Girsky Quartet performs this fifth of the early Beethoven quartets along with the charming Mozart Bb quartet K. 589. Join Artur Girsky, Natasha Bazhanov, Joseph Gottesman and Rowena Hammill as they continue this highly popular series.

The Salish Sea Early Music Festival offers a rare opportunity to hear the complete Musical Offering and other chamber music by Johann Sebastian Bach on period instruments with German harpsichordist Hans-Jürgen Schnoor, baroque violinist Ingrid Matthews and baroque flutist Jeffrey Cohan in Bach’s Musical Offering on Monday, April 18 at 7:00 PM at Bethel Church at 148th Ave SW & 119th Street (14736 SW Bethel Lane) on Vashon Island.
