Sedentary Sousa Band plays Ober Park

Islanders of all ages can hear Ballard’s Sedentary Sousa Band pay musical homage to some of John Philip Sousa’s most famous marches, including Stars and Stripes Forever (National March of the U.S.A), The Washington Post March and Semper Fidelis (the official Marine Corps march) and more 7 p.m., Thursday, July 7, at Ober Park.

Band leader Liz Dreisbach says they play the music straight, but the whole experience is also a lot of fun. Sedentary Sousa is a feel-good, energetic hit of Americana. The group proudly wears band jackets of many colors, lovingly collected from around the U.S.

Free, Summer Concerts in the Park Series is sponsored by Vashon Park District and Vashon Allied Arts. Coming up July 21, hear LeRoy Bell and His Only Friends when they bring their rock and roll party to the Park.
