Connect & Glow Guided Meditation & Music

Pianist, composer, and teacher Kate Moody will present a series of Connect & Glow Guided Meditations and Music on second Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. at Vashon Intuitive Arts. Each session focuses on a different topic. The topic on June 11th is “Spring Cleaning - I Forgive Me.” August 13th is “Vitality and Growth,” and September 10th is “Connecting With Inner Guidance.”

As we approach the end of the 2016 primary season, we find the likely candidates of both parties to have the highest unfavorability ratings since such polls have been taken.  Trump at 57% and Clinton at 55% top the charts.

The group has made appearances in the last three Strawberry Festival lineups, two years at the “Cat Butt” festival, several dates at the “Red Bike” and a truly unique mid-summer party for Tony’s Going Away (that never happened, he’s still here).

That is a question answered by the weather. Is it too hot to cook? We eat raw vegetable or fruit salads or bean salad accompanied by a plate of cold cuts and a sturdy whole grain bread, or a bean salad. Is it too cool not to cook? There we have more choices. Free Educational Events Help Marine Shoreline and Bluff Property Owners Manage and Protect Land

The steep bluffs, ravines, and beautiful shorelines of Vashon Island provide spectacular views of the Puget Sound, but they are also prone to erosion and landslides. On June 4th, from 9:00am to 3:30pm, the King Conservation District will hold a free, educational workshop for landowners on marine shoreline and bluff properties.

Bruce Haulman’s New Book About Vashon

Vashon Island historian Bruce Haulman’s new book, A Brief History of Vashon Island, was released this past week. Haulman indicates that this is the second of three books chronicling island history that he has been working on. The first, written with Jean Cammon Findlay, was the pictorial history Vashon-Maury Island in the Images of America series. The third book will tell the stories of the people who have made our island what it is.

Hilary joins Bernie on Senior Center’s Dream Team for Unofficial Mayor

Rooting for Bernie? Pushing for Hilary? In a remarkable show of unity, Bernie and Hilary have combined their campaigns to run for Unofficial Mayor(s) of Vashon! In a joint statement, they said, “As seniors ourselves, we know the importance of Vashon’s Senior Center to the health and well-being of Island seniors, and to the vitality of the entire community.”
