Dancers at a Gathering & Cinderella

Classically trained in ballet, tap and modern, more than 200 dancers studying at the VCA Center for Dance present a robust, beautiful evening of dance in the inaugural season at the Katherine L White Hall.

Guest pianist William Kirkpatrick plays Chopin selections to accompany advanced students performing Dancers at a Gathering. “I am thrilled to kick off our first performance at ‘The Kay’ with non-narrative ballet originally choreographed by Jerome Robbins,” says Director of Dance Christine Juarez.

Second half is Prokofiev’s Cinderella. This familiar ballet features dancers of all ages performing as mice, butterflies and cobblers plus the advanced ballet and modern dancers. Vanesa Wylie choreographed Cinderella’s pumpkin with live dancers—a twist on the traditional coach.

Choreography by VCA Center for Dance Faculty: Christine Juarez, Vadne Domeika, Crissy Baker and Kathleen Bonner is interwoven—sophisticated, playful and charming.

Roles danced by: Cinderella, seniors Tess Mueller and Sally Walker; fairy godmother, senior Hannah Van Dusen; prince and his man at arms, Quinn McTighe and Josiah Sprute-Boyajian, respectively; stepsisters, Juliana Wright, Tess Mueller and second cast, Selah Bellscheidt; Stepmother, Marisa McTighe and Kelsey Morrison alternating, opposite Toby Holmes as stepfather. Costumes by Kate Guinee and Lighting Design by Stan Voynick. Sets and props by the wonderful VCA production team.
