The Tale of Peter Rabbit and The Tale of Benjamin Bunny have delighted children for generations, and are combined in a puppet show to reveal the beloved world of Beatrix Potter. After Peter sneaks into Mr. McGregor’s garden for some delicious vegetables, he realizes that he lost his new blue jacket.  How will he get it back?

On a beautiful summer morning the lovable hedgehog, Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, merrily journeys to the fir tree home of Mrs. Rabbit. She is delivering the freshly washed clothes of Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail, and Peter.

In Oklahoma in the 1930’s, “The Cyclone Line” was a name for the telephone when it was used to pass information on the all-important weather; the tornadoes, the elusive rain, and the devastating dust storms. Kat Eggleston has written many songs inspired by her father’s memories of the Oklahoma dustbowl, and the songs have now grown into a play with music.

Season tickets are now available for Vashon Chamber Music’s 2016-17 series at the Katherine L White Hall.  Artistic directors Rowena Hammill and Douglas Davis present four concerts of classical chamber music, beginning with “An Evening of Schubert and Schumann” on October 2nd at 7:30pm.

Vashon’s own lyric soprano, Holly Boaz, will sing songs of Schubert and Robert and Clara Schumann, while Seattle Symphony artists will join pianist Jessica Choe for the exciting Schumann Piano Quintet.

Dance! Vashon brings Roald Dahl’s “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory” to stage at the Vashon High School Theater this weekend, June 24-26.  The production is the 20th show directed by Vashon Dance Academy Artistic Director and Dance Teacher Cheryl Krown and Co-Director/Teacher Julie Gibson, featuring over 100 Vashon dancers, from ages 3 to adult.

Dance! Vashon brings Roald Dahl’s “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory” to stage at the Vashon High School Theater this weekend, June 24-26.  The production is the 20th show directed by Vashon Dance Academy Artistic Director and Dance Teacher Cheryl Krown and Co-Director/Teacher Julie Gibson, featuring over 100 Vashon dancers, from ages 3 to adult.  The performance is an annual favorite, renowned for its creativity, colorful costumes, giant sets, humor, and student contributions.

The Echosphere is something of an acoustical wonder. It is a 68’ inflatable sphere with 1000 sf floor space and an echo that hits you before you can enunciate. Inside the sphere, singers and musicians can play in an environment that emulates to others inside the full body experience of creating sound.

Acclaimed actor/storyteller Stephen Tobolowsky will narrate stories from his popular podcast, The Tobolowsky Files, at the Vashon Theatre on Sunday, March 6, at 7 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Vashon senior class and the Vashon Scholarship Foundation.  His last performance on Vashon in 2011--also a fundraiser for the schools--filled the house.

Vashon Youth Theatre will unwrap its latest production — the timeless tale of THE WIZARD OF OZ — just in time for the holiday season this year.

Vashon Youth Theatre will unwrap its latest production — the timeless tale of THE WIZARD OF OZ — just in time for the holiday season this year.

The show, an adaptation of The Royal Shakespeare Company’s stage show featuring songs from the classic 1939 film,  will have three performances, at 7 p.m. Friday, December 18 and Saturday, Dec. 19, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at Vashon High School Theatre.

On December 4, 5 and 6, VAA Center for Dance presents its annual Nutcracker at Vashon High School Theater. This production features more than 50 dancers, showcasing five graduating seniors. New choreography includes the Arabian Princess danced by senior Hannah Van Dusen

On December 4, 5 and 6, VAA Center for Dance presents its annual Nutcracker at Vashon High School Theater. This production features more than 50 dancers, showcasing five graduating seniors. New choreography includes the Arabian Princess danced by senior Hannah Van Dusen, the Spanish Dance with senior male dancers Quinn McTighe and Josiah Sprute-Boyajian, the Russian Dance with senior Rayanna Weller, and a Sugar Plum Fairy split cast with Sally Walker and Tess Mueller. A holiday tradition at your fingertips!

On the weekend of November 20 – 22, Vashon Allied Art’s Youth Musical Theater program will be presenting the new musical, The Snow Queen, based on the story by Hans Christian Anderson, at the Vashon United Methodist Church. There will be 3 shows – Friday, Nov. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 21 at 7 PM and Sunday, Nov. 22 at 4 PM. 16 students will perform onstage and Lizzie Staehli (also a student) will design and run lights and the power point slides.

The classical concert Series continues with violinist and educator Dr. Quinton Morris has played Carnegie Hall, and founded The Young Eight, the only professional African-American classical octet in the world. Morris launches his world tour on Vashon, playing the sonatas of the eighteenth century violinist, conductor and first classical composer of African origin. Accompanied by Alastair Edmonstone on piano.
