80-year-old Overton Berry is a Seattle music legend, dazzling pianist, bandleader, composer and baritone whose career spans well over 60 years. A member of the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame, Berry practiced in the black musicians union hall as a youth (the unions were integrated in 1958) and was immersed in the fabled early Seattle jazz scene since the 1950s, playing with the likes of Diane Schuur,

Berry is joined by Rick Spano on drums, and Jeff Davies on bass.

It took the members of Vashon’s popular Some’tet band three years to create their first CD, and they’re celebrating its release Friday, October 14, at the Red Bicycle Bistro and Sushi Bar.
It took Voice of Vashon 14 years to get an FM broadcasting license, and they’re celebrating the second year of KVSH 101.9FM community radio Friday, October 14, at the Red Bike.

Celebrating the life and music of legendary singer Patsy Cline, Vashon Center for the Arts and Debra Heesch present Sweet Dreams on Saturday, September 17. One of “Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest of All Time”, Cline tragically passed away in a plane crash at the age of 30, but the music she left behind influences countless singers.

Island drummer Todd Zimberg will reunite with two of his closest musician friends once again, guitarist Michael Gotz and bass player Keith Lowe, for another epic performance at the Red Bicycle Bistro. The trio has had so much fun playing gigs at the Red Bike that they decided to come back and give the Island another spectacular night of jazz, rock and blues.

Pianist, composer, and teacher Kate Moody will present a series of Connect & Glow Guided Meditations and Music on second Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. at Vashon Intuitive Arts. Each session focuses on a different topic. The topic on June 11th is “Spring Cleaning - I Forgive Me.” August 13th is “Vitality and Growth,” and September 10th is “Connecting With Inner Guidance.”

The group has made appearances in the last three Strawberry Festival lineups, two years at the “Cat Butt” festival, several dates at the “Red Bike” and a truly unique mid-summer party for Tony’s Going Away (that never happened, he’s still here).

The Girsky Quartet performs this fifth of the early Beethoven quartets along with the charming Mozart Bb quartet K. 589. Join Artur Girsky, Natasha Bazhanov, Joseph Gottesman and Rowena Hammill as they continue this highly popular series.

The Hardware Store Restaurant decided to start having a regular live music night a couple of years back and it has turned out to be a lot of fun and a great venue to hear some really talented people perform.

The music takes place from 7-9pm.

This month, on March 24th, we bring you local musician Loren Sinner.  We love having Loren perform at the Hardware Store - it’s a good fit for the room and everyone really enjoys his selection of music.
