Water Works Studio- Simply More Stars in the Jar

While a working studio all year, Waterworks Studio, truly shakes its sleepy head and come vibrantly alive for the Holiday Art Studio Tour, kicking off the 2 weekend long Tour with the Waterworks Preview Party Friday, December 2, from 6 pm on. Waterworks Studio on Maury Island is #26 in the gorgeous Holiday Art Studio Tour brochure, available at most Island merchants and on line at www.VashonIslandArtStudioTour.com. Waterworks can also be seen online at www.waterworksonvashon.comWaterworks is the working studio of Darsie and Christine Beck but, for the Holiday Art Studio Tour, it is the venue for 15 of the best artists the Island has to offer. For the studio, Tour is a microcosm of community, starting with the holiday preview party which gathers friends from all over the Island to view the new work, sample hors d’oeurves made by the artists, sip hot and cold refreshments and simply catch up with one another at the start of the busy holiday season. From the party on, it’s "Open House" at Waterworks, welcoming visitors from on and off Island for each of the two weekends of the Tour, warming them with hot cider, tea and cookies, introducing them to the artists and providing an opportunity to purchase gifts large and small from the artists they love.

Looking for those incredible silk scarves by Dana Illo? Hoping to grab a few more new and unique paintings and drawings by Darsie Beck, Bob Horsley, Mike Maher, Stephanie Harlan and Nancy Wing? Fascinated by the photographs and encaustic work of Ray Pfortner? Need a handmade gift in textiles by Jill Andrews or ceramics by Heidi Richards for that very special child? As always, the art is new every year as the artists change and evolve and Waterworks as a studio changes too. New this year is our Christmas tree with a bounty of ornaments created by each artist and for sale to our guests. Pick your favorites to have and treasure on your own tree for years to come. In addition to the Artist Tree, two of our artists, Darsie Beck and Ray Pfortner, will be unveiling their new books at the Preview Party. Darsie will be celebrating the release of the new edition of his book, Your Essential Nature, which has been revised and now comes with a separate personal journal while Ray Pfortner will debut his new book, Island Home, that will become a "must have" for every Island home in the days to come.
