The Tragedy of Macbeth

Vashon Island Shakespeare Festival’s ShakesKIDS presents: The Tragedy of Macbeth, by William Shakespeare.

The ShakesKIDS, a group of increasingly Shakespearean literate tweens will be presenting their production of William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Macbeth on Friday Novemeber 22nd at 7:00pm.

Vashon Island Shakespeare Festival (www.vashonshakes.org), a partner Artist of Seattle’s Shunpike (http://www.shunpike.org) was founded by Aimée Nicole Lewis van Roekel upon her family’s relocation to the island last year.

Since it’s inception the ShakesKIDS have learned and produced 12th Night or What You Will, Romeo and Juliet, and past summer at the Strawberry Festival they performed A Midsummer Night’s Dream. All while having fun and acting silly.

The Tragedy of Macbeth, a decidedly darker and even scary play reflects the growing depth and courageousness of the student body. Witches and murder, power grabs and double crossing, The Tragedy of Macbeth explores a side of our collective conciousness rarely collectively explored.

The Thursday before the show will be presented to an exclusive audience at Vashon Community Care, for residents only.

Friday’s show at Ober Park Performance Space is free and open to the public. It is part of Vashon Island Shakespeare Festival’s mission statement to provide the community at large with "Free Will"; however donations are of course welcome.
