Mark Ettinger with Kate Copeland & Kiyota Sage

Sweet and gritty father/daughter harmonies bring to life the songs of ex-Karamazov brother Mark Ettinger. He is a "Monster songwriter. Capital M; … a cross between early Jackson Browne and the Band" (Fame magazine). He crafts his amusing, heartfelt, merciless, Talmudic explorations in his favorite haunts, the Northeast and Northwest. Though a NYC native, he has written some of his best-loved songs on and around the Puget Sound, and he is glad to be back on Vashon to share them.
 
He released two CD’s, In This World and Songbirds of Tralfamador, and presents his 3rd, Humming towards the Sublime, on this tour down the coast. He has worked with local artists Kevin Joyce and Jennifer Sutherland, Umo, Jim Page, Baby Gramps, and others. He has performed in the area for the last 15 years with the Flying Karamazov Brothers. He leads the Moisture Festival Burlesque stage band, "The Naked Truth" and tap dances with goats.
 
Kate Copeland, living in Port Townsend, will play an opening set before joining her father on harmonies. Kate Copeland is a conservatory-trained composer who penned folk songs between theory classes, her influences ranging from Medieval chant to Igor Stravinsky to Joni Mitchell. Most recently she has been working on her upcoming debut album, in which she combines songwriting with her passion for rich and diverse orchestration.
 
Kiyota Sage hails from Port Townsend and has spent his life thus far dabbling in everything from jewelry and sushi-making to songwriting and backflipping. In his free time he builds houses, designs websites, and performs with Kate Copeland in a variety of capacities.
