Katrina Kope

Katrina Kope, front woman of her soul band Soul Kata, and more recently with her electronic band Purr Gato, is not only a singer/songwriter but a polished jazz singer that has been involved in the Seattle music scene since 2001. The past year, Katrina started an all improve vocal jam called "Sing it Live" at the Sea Monster, held every 2nd Sunday of the month, and released Purr Gato’s debut album "Heart Beat" at the Columbia City Theater in June.

With a smokey quality to her booming voice, Katrina has been told she sounds like Norah Jones and Diana Krall with a splash of soul.

Katrina finished her degree at Cornish college of the arts as a Vocal/Composition major in the Spring of 2007. She has studied with such musicians as Randy Halberstabdt, Jim Knapp, Chuck Deardorf, Jovino Santos Neto, and Greta Matassa. Katrina has done some recording with Daren Clendenin, Clipper Anderson, Steve Korne, Josh Rawlings and Nate Omdal.

Some of Katrina’s biggest influences are Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Erykah Baduh, and Bonnie Raitt. Her repertoire includes everything from Jazz standards, 70’s funk to popular R&B. She has written a wide array of musical styles including blues, waltz, rock, pop and funk. Her style is continually growing with every step she takes through her musical journey.

You can find Katrina performing at the Crocodile, The Nectar, The Sea Monster, Tula’s, The Sorrento Hotel, and many other venues and festivals with her bands, The bushwick book club, Sing it Live, or singing Jazz as the Katrina Kope Quatrtet for public and private events.
