Beauty, love, drama and betrayal with ultimate forgiveness characterize Giselle, the beautiful and dramatic ballet scored by Adolph Adams. Set in the Middle Ages Rhineland during harvest season, this poignant love story of a peasant girl and prince invites audiences to another time and place.

Preceding Giselle, young dancers (ages 3 to 6) will perform Under the Big Top, a high energy circus-theme mini-ballet choreographed by VAA Center for Dance Artistic Director, Christine Juarez, to music composed by Jacques Offenbach. Dancers will also perform original works choreographed by students and selected by a panel of instructors.

Giselle, Original Works & Under the Big Top happens at 7 pm, Friday and Saturday, May 11, 12 and 1 pm, Saturday and Sunday, May 12, 13. Island schools (all ages) are invited to a 1:30 pm show, Friday, May 11, for only $5 per person. All performances will be held at VHS Theater. Tickets are $10/$13, and available now at VAA, Heron’s Nest, Vashon Bookshop and brownpapertickets.com.
