Body found on Vashon Island beach

Two Children walking on a Vashon Island beach shortly after noon on Monday discovered a dead body that apparently had washed ashore, north of Paradise Cove, near SW 240th and 147th Ave.  King County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.
 
Sheriff’s Sgt. Cyndi West said Monday the body “appears to be that of an elderly female.”
 
The body was found on Reddings Beach, on the island’s west side. Detectives were still at the scene of the discovery at 4:30 p.m., West said.  The body was dressed in blue jeans and a red jacket . No other details about the deceased or her cause of death were readily available Monday, she added.
