Art and Lintzilla

Artwork by islander, Mary Lynn Buss. The medium is hand built, glazed and fired clay.

Coming ‘round the bend as a precursor to the 2013 Vashon Sheepdog Classic, is the Art Show at the Two Wall Gallery between Blooms and the Heron’s Nest. The theme, as last year’s, is "The Beauty and Value of Farm Life". How better to exemplify the deep connection between humans and their beasts than through art. Beasts or artichokes, whatever your persuasion, will have a place in the show. Our own Vashon Island’s beloved mosaic artist, Elaine Summers, will exhibit her life sized colt, rooster and dog. A dog that doesn’t poop. Now there’s a pet! A rooster that doesn’t crow. Now there’s a good neighbor! Various other artists from the island and across the pond will be represented. Pop in on First Friday, 6 September, and vote for the piece that vibrates your right brain. The People’s Choice Award winner will receive a cash prize and will immediately move to the Bahamas for the winter.

About Lintzilla. Unless you have seriously not been paying attention, Lintzilla was up for the mayoral race in 2012. But she is hanging on to the notoriety like a Border Collie maneuvering her sheep. She likes to appear with the mystique of the Grande Dame of the Evening., maybe early..... maybe late. As a third generation islander, she is passionately supportive of well behaved dogs and island businesses. She travels with her personal veterinarian and hygienic attendant, so feel perfectly free to invite your Seattle friends. Lintzilla will extend her engaging social etiquette beyond her constituency.

And don’t forget what all this hoopla is about....The Vashon Sheepdog Classic on Septemeber 13, 14 and 15th at Misty Isle Farm. It will be an an experience to talk about.
