When I was just a boy…Recollections of old Vashon

We heard from the women in June, now it’s time to hear from the men. At When I was just a boy…we will hear fascinating stories of what it was like to grow up on old Vashon, from the 1920’s through the 1940’s, and more stories of memorable Vashon events occurring during the following decades. Guest speakers will be Bill Garvin, Tom Lorentzen and Gene Sherman. The talk will be introduced and moderated by a great story teller himself, Joe Meeker. During the talk, photos from old Vashon, courtesy of the Vashon-Maury Heritage Association, will be projected. One such picture, above, is of the Cove Dock which no longer exists. We will hear stories involving Cove Dock from Tom Lorentzen, who grew up on the Westside.
