Voice of Vashon wants to Hear from YOU!

Voice of Vashon has launched the public phase of a major master planning effort — an online survey of Islander’s desires and needs for broadcast and webcast music, informational television, entertainment shows and emergency alert information. Emails and leafleting teams have started reaching out on the Island to find out what people most want from Voice of Vashon, how they’d like to receive it and how service can be improved as the station moves into the future. The master planning and survey work comes more than a decade after Voice of Vashon went on the air with its first webcast.

"To make this more fun, and in a total effort to bribe people to participate, everyone who takes the online survey will be entered into a free drawing for some great prizes," said Voice of Vashon President Jeanne Dougherty.

The brief survey takes about five minutes. To let your opinions be known, go to www.VoiceOfVashon.org/survey.

Anyone who wants to be entered into the free drawing simply needs to leave their email at the end of the survey so the station can reach them if they win. Dozens of prizes include gift certificates for island dining and services, tickets to local shows, CDs, VOV memorabilia, and even emergency-preparedness supplies. For more information on all the prizes, go to

Dougherty went on to explain why Voice of Vashon wants to take this fresh look at the station’s future. "So much has changed in the years since our dream was born. In that time we’ve become a fundamental part of the Island community, a home grown and volunteer operated local information and entertainment source. At the same time, technology has really changed. TVs, radios, phones, the way people use the Web...these things have all moved on. The survey will help us do a better job of continuing our long tradition of community service."
