Treasures in your Attic

Vashon’s Own Road Show Event

Do you find yourself glued to the program, Antique’s Road Show, guessing the value of a grandmother’s butter dish made from green glass, or a great uncle’s collection of civil war paraphernalia? Then listen up, Islanders; Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Associates proudly brings you Treasures in Your Attic. It’s our very own fundraising version of Antique’s Road Show sponsored by TrueValue and chaired by museum board member, Patty Custer. It’s happening on September 15, 2012, 10:00 am until 2:00 pm in the rear garden behind the museum.

You can rent a booth and sell your own treasures or just drop by and peruse the goods. But best of all, you can bring your own antiques and have them appraised.

You may have hidden treasures in your garage, barn or attic. Expert appraisers will be on hand to assess the worth of what some might consider "junk", as well as real antiques, fine art, collectibles and memorabilia of all sorts.

The appraisers are volunteering their time for this event. The team consists of experts specializing in clocks; music boxes, silver, 19th century English ceramics, jewelry, tools, comic books, art glass, paintings, Native American Indian art. These experts include qualifications as gallery and appraisal professionals, a UW certified genealogist and researcher, an Oxford rare book expert, and even a certified appraiser and advisor to the Road Show.

If you wish to share a story of your own cherished prize, our Master of Ceremonies, Troy Kindred, will gladly retell your narrative as part of the festivities. An auction will also be held for selected items.

Set up a booth with your own valuables for $15.00 to $25.00. Or, get your items appraisals for $5.00 each or 3 for $12.00. Admission into the event is $5.00 per person.

Support your local Heritage Museum with the first ever Road Show fundraiser. Pick up your application form and booth rental agreement at the museum and we’ll see you there, Vashon.
