The Galloping Gerties at Pt. Robinson

On Saturday, 20 April, the Galloping Gerties, the Tacoma Ford Model A Club, will be holding a gathering out at Point Robinson. The cars, all of which will have been driven from Puyallup via Southworth, will be mustered around the lighthouse starting at about 1030. These cars have all been restored to their original splendor, and are the pride of their owners-and few of them are painted black! The cars will be grouped in such a way that great photographs of them all together can be taken from the top of the lighthouse tower.

The Galloping Gerties, the Keepers of Point Robinson and the Vashon Park District invite the entire Island community to come, talk with the owners, enjoy the hard work that goes into restoration of old vehicles, and visit with friends old and new. I will have the Lighthouse meadow open for general parking for this event, with the area around the lighthouse reserved for the Model A Fords. The Galloping Gerties will stay until all have finished lunch, had a tour of the lighthouse, with emphasis on photographs from the tower of the cars assembled, answered questions, and revived memories, especially of the more senior hands, who may well have started their romantic lives in Model A cars!. (Mine started in a 1939 Ford DeLuxe, but that is an another story for another time).( And no, I am not that old!)

I will be giving the tours of the lighthouse myself, and will be at the light all afternoon. Come on down, bring a picnic, bring a trash bag, see the cars, take the tour, come and see our favorite and most-used park in full bloom.

Yours for a real Spring day on the 20th, Captain Joe, President, Keepers of Point Robinson.
